Guest lecture

with Dr. Mara Harvey

18:30h to 19:30h

MONEY SKILLS ARE LIFE SKILLS

Everyone is welcome. No registration needed.

Why are money skills so important as of a young age? How do economic gender biases impact people’s wealth creation? How can we mitigate these biases and enable women, in particular, to engage in money matters?

In this talk we will explore all of these questions and explain why financial confidence is the key ingredient for taking control of your financial future. The facts and figures we will share are a compelling call to take action and we will give you concrete suggestions on how to start building up your money skills for life.

About the lecturer

Dr. Mara Catherine Harvey is driven by two fundamental beliefs: that daily money decisions are an untapped source of positive social and environmental impact, and that we cannot wait another 100+ years to achieve economic gender equality.

As a senior manager in finance with over 21 years’ experience in Wealth Management at UBS, Dr. Mara Catherine Harvey has had the privilege to support clients to have more impact with their wealth and to drive a global transformation program to facilitate female financial participation.

Above all, Dr. Mara Catherine Harvey is a passionate advocate for financial literacy, equality and female economic empowerment.  Dr. Mara Catherine Harvey is the author of Women and Risk: Re-writing The Rules (2018) and A Smart Way To Start (2018-2021), a rhymed book series for children on money, equality and sustainability. Her vision is to shape our children’s financial future, and in particular to empower all girls to talk about money, to know their worth and to feel comfortable negotiating their pay, so they can enter the workforce on equal terms to the boys. Her latest rhymed book, START DOING GOOD explains the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to children, and has been published by the United Nations to support awareness and education for the world’s Agenda 2030.

Dr. Mara Catherine Harvey holds a doctorate with highest honours in Political Economy from Fribourg University and speaks English, Italian, French and German fluently.
